With your own subdomain, your landing pages run under your own address, e.g. go.example.com, instead of a Quentn address. This looks more professional, strengthens your brand, and builds trust with your visitors. Setup only takes a few minutes and is available on all Quentn plans.
What is a subdomain?
A subdomain is a section of a domain you already own. It sits in front of the domain name, separated by a period. In go.example.com, example.com is the domain and go is the subdomain.
Think of your domain as a house: the domain is the street address, and subdomains are the individual rooms inside. You can create as many as you like, e.g. go.example.com, offer.example.com, or webinar.example.com.
| Domain | Subdomain | |
|---|---|---|
| Example | example.com | go.example.com |
| Where do you get it? | Purchased from a domain registrar (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, IONOS) | You create it yourself at no extra cost |
| Cost | Annual fee | Free, part of your domain |
| Setup | Registration with the provider | One DNS record with your DNS provider |
The advantage for your landing pages: your main website at example.com stays exactly as it is. The subdomain points only to Quentn, so your landing pages run alongside it under your brand.
How to set up your subdomain
- In Quentn, click Settings → Domains.
- Click Add Domain.
- Enter a subdomain of a domain you own, e.g. go.example.com.
- Once it's added, Quentn shows you the DNS records you need.
- Log in to your DNS provider (usually where you bought your domain) and create the DNS records exactly as shown.
- Then follow the remaining steps in Quentn until the domain shows as set up.
You can now select the subdomain for your landing pages.
Tips and FAQ
- Use a subdomain, not your main domain. Use e.g. go.example.com instead of example.com or www.example.com; otherwise your existing website will no longer be reachable.
- Enter the host name correctly: Many DNS providers add your domain automatically. In that case, enter only go in the Name or Host field, not go.example.com.
- Copy the records exactly: Even a missing period or an extra space will keep the connection from working.
- Be patient during activation: DNS changes often take a few minutes and, in rare cases, up to 48 hours to take effect everywhere.
- Can't find your DNS provider? It's usually the company you bought your domain from. If in doubt, ask your webmaster or IT team.
