Testing the Campaign
To test your campaign, there are several approaches — some more thorough than others.
You can:
test only emails.
test the process starting from a specific point in the campaign.
test the entire campaign flow.
Preparations for Testing
Before you begin,
first publish your campaign.
check that all websites used in the campaign are working properly — for example, pages with sign-up forms or possible download and thank-you pages.
Testing Emails
You can send a test email to an address of your choice for each individual email. Under each email (except for the confirmation email), you will find the option “Test Email.” Enter your email address to send yourself a test.
Please note:
Placeholders (such as those used for greetings) are not replaced in test emails.
Testing the Campaign from a Specific Point
If you only want to test part of your campaign, follow these steps:
Add the “Start” event element to your campaign and connect it to the action element where the test contact should enter first. Note: This refers to the Start element at the campaign level (not the one inside sequences).
Republish the campaign.
Go to your contact overview and find your test contact. Select it.
Choose the bulk action “Campaign test.”
Enter the name of the campaign you want to test and click the green “Test Campaign” button in the upper right.
The campaign will now be reset before the start for the selected contacts, and the related statistics (status mode) will be removed. This allows you to run the campaign multiple times with your test contact without having to reset the contact manually.
Testing the Complete Campaign Flow
To go through your campaign from start to finish, as a potential prospect would, follow the same path you defined for your potential contacts.
If entry into your campaign is a form, open your landing page with the embedded form. Sign up as a new user. Within a short time, you should receive the confirmation email.
Please note:
If the address you register with is already confirmed, the double opt-in will be skipped.
If you sign up again, the contact must be reset for the campaign in order to go through it again.
If you sign up more than 5 times in a short period, flood protection will be triggered and registration will not be possible for 24 hours.
To shorten the waiting time of timers, open Status Mode in the campaign (top right, next to the “Publish” button).
Go to the sequence where your test contact is waiting at a timer.
Above the timer, you will find a dark blue button with a people icon and arrows. Click it to manually move the contact forward.
Publish
When you have finished creating your campaign, click on the green "Publish" button in the top right-hand corner. Now your campaign is online. If you make changes to your campaign afterwards, the green button will show you the number of changes. Don't forget to publish your changes after you have finished, so that they will be counted.
